Why is marketing very important for changemakers?
Many changemakers and non-marketers misunderstand marketing as mere advertising or as a promotion. Marketing is a lot more than that.
Late Peter Druker, who is considered as the founder of modern management, quoted,
“Because the purpose of business is to create a customer, the business enterprise has two – and only two – basic functions: marketing and innovation. Marketing and innovation produce results; all the rest are costs. Marketing is the distinguishing, unique function of the business.”
To put it in simple words, marketing is the essential and the most important function of any business.
Also, like commercial enterprises, social enterprises and nonprofit enterprises should take advantage of technological and marketing innovations to speed up growth.
